Do many people suffer from long term injuries in amateur boxing at about the 140 pound weight class?

Of course. It's not natural for the human body to take punches constantly to the head and body. I think last year, in women's boxing a woman got KO'ed and later died from a brain injury. They were wearing head guards aswell. The footage is on youtube and it looks like any other KO, anything can happen in the ring man.
