Honestly the only reason for tourney's are to force the top guys to face each other. I hear people say they want to see a tourney at 140 and 118 as well but when the top guys are starting to face each other (140-bradley vs alexander and Khan vs Maidana...and 118 with Hasegawa vs Moreno, Darchinyan vs Mares, and Montiel vs Donaire)....then there is no need for a tournanment.

At WW while that would be great...it won't happen for the following reasons

      1. WW is the money division in boxing....so it would be hard to come up with the Money splits, locations and other things to keep the tourny consistent.

      2. WW is pretty is and has been playing itself out. Marg vs Cotto, Mosley vs Floyd, Pac vs Cotto, Cotto vs Clottey, Shane vs Margarito, Pacquiao vs Margarito...etc.

      3. The top guys in this division are some of the biggest name in the sports and a there really isn't nothing to gain for entering a tournament (as far as career/legacy/name recognition wise.

Now it would be great for the fans but boxing is a business and a tourny here just wouldn't happen.

FWIW....The super 6 at 168 was necessary because Showtime was in need of something to help them atleast compete with HBO's current.

they should do a Tournament but with the younger and unknown guys in the division, Mayweather, Pacman and Mosley are Proven they don't need to be in a damn Tournament

it should be all guys who are still trying to prove themselves, guys like:

        Andre Berto
        Mike Jones
        Mike Alvarado
        Kell Brook
        Viacheslav Senchenko
        Alfonso Gomez
        Jan Zaveck
        Selcuk Aydin

ALL looking to take that next step in the Welterweight Division and trying to make a name for themselves

there are only two fights that need to happen at welterweight.

            pacquiao vs mayweather
berto vs cotto - and this could be @ junior middle

            tournament is not necessary.

140 lbs is where a great tourney could take place.
