Why does Nonito Donaire have such a horrible resume?

Honestly I don't think Donaire is afraid of the challenges, but I think the issue lies in him not seeing the opportunity and taking advantage. I still think it's b.s. that he uses the "everyone is scared to fight me excuse", as I feel that is a cop out, but he does have an opportunity fighters would kill for. I just think no one, including himself, sees this.
118 is ****ing loaded and Donaire would be wise to stay there for 2-3 years and pad his record against a lot of the top guys. I hear he is chasing Lopez but honestly that fight wont happen for a while due to the fact that as soon as nonito moves up lopez will as well.
I would love to see Donaire clean out 118, fight Koki in a mega fight, then move up to 122 to face someone like Poon. If he did that, even if he lost 1 or 2 along the way, he would solidify himself as a HOF and possible an ATG.
FWIW I'm hard on Donaire because I see the potential which is why it pisses me off that he is wasting his talent the way he is.Last edited by Khalid X; 09-08-2010, 12:17 AM.Comment

yeah, maybe you're right it's a weak excuse. it's arum's fault, or maybe it's arum's plan not to expose nonito in tough fights for the moment because arum knows nonito's skills. he will be his next milking cow when manny retires.
i totally agree with you, it is a total waste of talent for nonito on his prime. i really hope that he could fight a very competitive opponent to prove to his critics what he is made of.Comment
