Steve Kim:Tripleheader on November 27th?(Cotto-Chavez notes)

    08-Sep-10 02:24

We already know that on November 27th that a fight between Juan Manuel Marquez and Michael Katsidis is being planned by Golden Boy Promotions, but there is a good chance that this HBO telecast will also feature the likes of Andre Berto and Celestino Caballero- who are promoted by Lou DiBella, in a strange twist.

Richard Schaefer confirmed that adding those two is a great possibility but that issue is being more and less being handled by HBO and DiBella. The CEO of Golden Boy stated that show would take place at either the Mandalay Bay or MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

    - I was notified by two separate sources that Amir Khan’s next bout on Dec. 11th, which will most likely be against Marcos Maidana, could land in Manchester, England. Although, Schaefer says that it’s HBO’s preference to have this fight in the States, where locales like Detroit and Las Vegas have been mentioned, already.

    - I keep hearing that Miguel Cotto will face Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on Dec. 4th, but in talking to his trainer Freddie Roach, he now says that Junior might need another fight or two before stepping up to such a level. But others at Top Rank, still believe this will take place. I don’t know about you, but I doubt that he even shows up to the Philippines to work with Pacquiao for this upcoming bout with Antonio Margarito on Nov, 13th.

I mean, first of all, the styles are completely different from Pacquiao to Cotto and you can’t even get this kid to show up to Hollywood on time, much less the Philippines.( Sept 7th, 6:28 pm, Pacific)

Sounds like Roach is taking the Teddy Atlas stand of not wanting to see his fighter taken apart. Of course the managers are anxious to cash out already.

Cotto should take a stay busy fight against a guy like Bundrage(ibf champ) and fight Margs next.
