Pittsburgh Examiner: Mayweather becoming less relevant

There is a sense that Pacquiao is the only one of the two fighting for his legacy, and that through his inactivity Mayweather will eventually become less relevant, regardless of how good he might be or whether in actual fact he would beat Pacquiao if the two ever fought.

That's why I don't get why people talk about Mayweather at all.

You take a look back when the Welterweight division was at its best a decade ago and fighters were all willing to fight each other. The money was huge and so were the fights.

Mayweather wanted no part of them then. Even now he's still not fighting the best. He never really took his career to that next level.

He's been doing this since Miguel Cotto first came on the scene and now Miguel Cotto is just about ready to make his exit from Boxing and Floyd is still doing the same thing, avoiding the big fights.

I just think people are finally coming to their senses, he's never really going to step it up and when he does it will be at a moment where it doesn't matter nearly as much as it did years previously.

It seems like all the boxing world talks about is Mayweather. You don't have to like him but he is much more relevant than Pac. Just because Pac is being a nice guy doesn't mean he is more relevant, he's fight a ***ing cheater for crying out loud. If anything he is hurting the sport by sending out the message that you can cheat and try to add more of a chance of killing a man and still get great paydays in the sport.

Nope, the guy is still huge....even when he doesn't have any fights scheduled or on a so called vacation he still gets plenty of buzz, haters just can't accept the fact.....even though they are also busy throwing his name out there everywhere

The way I see it Pacquiao and Mayweather are just trying to one-up each other everytime someone makes a move.

Pacquiao fights Hatton at 140 so Mayweather fights Marquez at what was supposed to be a catch-weight, but ends up at 147.

Pacquiao fights Cotto at 145 and Clottey at 147 so Mayweather fights Mosley at 147.

It's just the natural progression of the game they're playing. Mayweather fought his cheater, now Manny is gonna fight his. No big deal
