Searching 4 Glory: Juanma Lopz/ Rafa Marquez

Searching 4 Glory: Juan Manuel Lopez, 29-0 (26) will be taking on the biggest challenge of his career when he faces Mexican Alltime Great Rafael Marquez, 39-5 (35 KO).

Gonna be 100% honest here: I think Juanma Lopez is vastly overrated. This guy looked awful getting dropped VS Concepcion, he also looked awful in almost getting KO'd against Mtagwa. Juanma has an awkward style, is a bit chinny, can be hit. The real positive is his power and decent handspeed.

Rafa Marquez, in his day, was a clear level above Juanma Lopez. The problem is he is 35 years old, and Im wondering if he's been in too many wars. The fights with Vazquez were gruelling. Marquez has been in a lot of fights, and Im wondering if he is still at his physical peak and can sustain a firefight?

In his day, Marquez was an *incredible* puncher (probably a better puncher than Lopez), but unlike Lopez, Marquez was also an incredible technician who was an explosive, precise boxer-puncher.

Had Marquez been 30, I would like him in this fight by KO.

As it stands, its a 35 year old, shopworn Marquez, and Im wondering if he can still pull the trigger?

What this fight is gonna do for me is give everyone the truth about Lopez.

If Lopez gets beat, he is an average fighter. If he gets knocked out he is a one dimensional fighter., If any of those happens, Marquez is destined for greatness among the elite.

On the other hand, if Lopez beats Marquez by decision, Prime Marquez would beat Lopez, if Loipez stops Marquez late, 122 Marquez would have beat him(if he came boxing first)

If Juanma stops him early, no version of Marquez would have a chance to beat 126 Juanma.

If Juanma knocks him out in the first 10 punches he throws, Marquez might as well never have came to 126.

Mexicans cant say that, cause it would make the Segura victory over Calderon look like nothing.

"But Marquez has been in three wars" - dumb people.

So what? Have you forgotten Calderon received three bloody headbutts in 3 of his last 5 fights?

Did Rickey Henderson had the same speed at 35 than he did when he was 28?

They cant downgrade Juanma's win without downgrading Segura's win.

35 is 35 which ever way you want to look at it. 8 times out 10 I would place my money on the younger guy.
