  • Why is [Sam] Peter so overblown?

I was just reading the 'Who can beat Vitali' thread, and Sam Peter was listed as being able to beat him. SAM PETER.

This reminded me of all the threads that I've seen with people thinking he's some kind of new god.

Now, I've watched him fight (Taurus), never having seen him before I was not impressed.

Can someone please explain to me why this guy gets so much credit? He didn't really box, looks out of shape, and just plodded into a mediocre boxer and knocked him out. He's got power, but anyone who has power and any kind of defense should be able to beat him silly.

I guess I just don't understand, someone please explain!

Peter is blown up a little. I would suspect that the reason he was blown up in that thread is because he would beat Wlad. Wlad has a weak chin. But I have seen Peter fight a bunch of times, he is a little flat footed and has an ugly style, but I see him getting into better shape. Not to mention the fact that everybody is wanting a true HW champion to emerge from a weak division, and possibly see that in Peter.

can anyone say "David Tua wanna-be"?

Tua got far with power and peter wants to do the same. but we know tua has a damn good chin, we still dont know how peter takes a punch.

watch what happens when he gets in the ring with a fighter who has a jab and can move. for tua, it was lewis and byrd. whos to say the same wont happen to peter?

people are always looking for the saviour of the heavyweight division, michael grant and dominick guinn are two guys in recent times who have been built up then exposed, the only thing i see in peter is his power and his age, his chin is readily available and as yet untested.

if you compare him to ike ibeabuchi, he just dosn't apper to be that good in comparison, ibeabuchi had good hand speed to go with his power, had a tested chin, and was in superb condition, able to throw an endless amount of punches, someone mentioned tua, but tua has a proven chin, and tua also has pretty fast hands as well to go with his power.

            Very good point my man.

comparing him to ike is a good way of showing his weaknesses. i dont think you can really make any argument that Peter is better than Ike was (still young i know) but we're talking about the now, not the later.

and if you look at it that way its hard to believe that this guy will be a heavyweight savior, when hes not even the best thing to come from nigeria. he actually seems to me much like Wlad in that he could beat anyone or lose to anyone (top15) on any given night.

people who make their chins "readily available" to wlad klitchko really never get that far. bad matchup, i like his chances better against just about anyone else. klitschko KO 4
