Who were the people that James Toney lost too?

Because I saw some of toney's fights and it always looks so easy for him and Im wondering who he lost too because it says he has like 4 losses or something.

Toney was shut out by RJJ, lost two decesions to Montel Griffen, and dropped a decision to a fighter named Drake Thadzi.

It's no excuse (his losses were his own fault) but from the time Toney lost to Roy Jones to the time he came back from a two year layoff in 1999, he was notorious for eating like a pig and being overweight, coupled with not taking the sport very seriously. When he dropped the decision to Thadzi, he didn't even make weight.

Since then, and especially in the last few years, you can see that he's much more dedicated and focused.

Like him as a Heavy or not, he wants to shake things up and he's been trying to get the biggest fights out there.

And by the way, on an interview from this week on Maxboxing, he's looking to be in the mid to high 220's. He looks very trim.

To me Toneys only legit loss was to Jones. Those Griffin fights were really close and Toney was out of shape for both.

A valid point. Both Griffen fights could have been scored for Toney without any contraversy.

Yep, I wouldnt argue Toney winning both either. Plus factor in that Griffin was pretty hyped up and was a "threat" at the time to takes Jones titles. I wouldnt be a suprised if an undefeated prospect at the time got a boost at the end of the fights considering a win set up a big fight with Jones Jr.

A determined, inshape James Toney probably wouldn't have lost more than two fights. But James has some weight problems at times...

                    Another close one that marv
I think he deserved the nod both times vs griffin Jones is the only fighter who has beaten him well, the others were close, when he's motivated he's very very good.
thats half the attraction too with him if he was as well conditioned as a jones or mosley or hopkins etc he would be so awesome, cos he turns up like a pig sometimes you know it's going to be entertaining one way or another
