Comments Thread For: Erik Morales: Juan Manuel Marquez Fight Would Be Historic

As Erik Morales continues his comeback, his mind is focused on landing the opportunity to fight Juan Manuel Marquez for his WBO/WBA lightweight titles in 2011. The WBC has announced that Morales, if he defeats Willie Limond on September 11, will become the official challenger to lightweight champion Humberto Soto. As much as Morales would like to make history by winning the green belt and becoming the first Mexican boxer to win four titles in four weight divisions, he believes a fight with Marquez would be a historic contest for the country of Mexico. Morales wants to go out like a G and fight the true champ of the division over a paper title unlike that bitch Barrera who's always ducked the rematch with JMM. David Diaz was a paper champ though, but that was then and he was coming off two bad losses to Pac.

This would be so huge. The only thing even comparable would be RJJ-Hopkins II IMO.

The only thing historic about is if Morales wins. He would be the first Mexican to be a 4 division title holder.

Nothing historic if JMM wins. Which at this stage of their careers he will.
