Ive got mixed feelings about Paulie. He's the underdog and you want to root for him, but on the other hand he's the biggest hypocrite in boxing.
When Diaz got the decision in a close fight in his hometown, Paulie went off like Diaz and Golden Boy had just killed his children. "Everyone deserves a fair shake," "boxing is bull****,"
ect.
How conveniently he forgot that just a year earlier Herman Ngoudjo kicked his ass all over Atlantic City. I think i scored three rounds for Paulie. He was sure enough happy to get his hometown decision, and sure as **** didn't give Herman Ngoudjo the rematch he requested.
If I was Diaz I would have told him I wouldn't give him a rematch until he gave Herman Ngoudjo one.
Glad that Paulie is making a return. Dude lacks any fire power but has some really good boxing skills. His voice is annoying and I think that turns a lot of people off from him. But, like I said, the guy has skills and I like watching him fight. The fact that he doesn't have any power makes him that much more interesting to me, also.
If Paulie had good punching power, he would probably have beaten Cotto. Hatton was a bad style match up, and so was Khan (faster, more reach and better jab). Paulie's got a good jab himself though (it's his only effective punch lol).
At WW he could do some damage. He could win against Ouali, Gomez, Petrucci (an Italian - potential for a big fight in Italy), and Matt Hatton.
If Malignaggi had punching power he'd be the GOAT and if my Auntie had a **** she'd be my uncle.
Let's not exaggerate Malignaggi's skills here. The guy has a decent, fast jab and that's it.His footwork is awkward and sloppy. He can't throw together a decent combination to save his life, often pitty patting his opponents gloves like he did against Diaz in their first fight. Not to mention that despite being incorrectly regarded as a 'slickster',he's about as easy to hit as Mayorga is.
He still hasn't proven that he's better than Herman Ngoudjo.
