A few days ago the World Boxing Council (WBC) announced that Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is now the official challenger to middleweight champion Sergio Martinez. That mandatory title shot can easily be lost according to WBC president Jose Sulaiman. If Chavez moves on to a December 4 clash with WBA 154-poound champion Miguel Cotto, he will lose his mandatory status with the WBC.
