Jeffries seemed to have the support of all of white America, including the press, led by Jack London, who wrote that 'Jeffries would surely win' because the white man 'has 30 centuries of traditions behind him - all the supreme efforts, the inventions and the conquests, and, whether he knows it or not, Bunker Hill and Thermopylae and Hastings and Agincourt'.

i think most white folks in those time were 'racist'. it's just the way of life, it's how you were brought up and accustomed to. i didn't think you'd have to single out jim jeffries.

Many people seem to forget the context in which Jeffries said those things. It was considered a social norm. Even the Newspaper writers were racist.

The object of Jim Jeffries' immense racism was a black man named Jack Johnson. He went so far as to call himself "the Great White Hope" that would defeat the legendary Johnson who he thought didn't have the right to be heavyweight champion of the world because of the color of his skin.

How ironic that Jim Jeffries's replacement as the top racist in all of sports is a black man himself whose object of racial attitudes and remarks is Asian.

Congratulations, Floyd Mayweather! You are the new Jim Jeffries! Take a bow! Your legacy is now set in stone!
