Let me relay my feeling with a story about assumed risk. In 1974 Evel Knievel set out on a challenge of his own, jump the Snake river canyon. If you watch the original footage, the commentater in a tizzy , expressed it was a tragedy we're watching live as the wind gusted and pushed Knievel back into the canyon. Now Evel survived flailing with chute and equipment to bottom of canyon, with relatively small injuries by Knievels standards. A few months later Evel was interviewed by a newspaper journalist, who like the person who titled this article, refered to his failed near tragic snake canyon jump. Evel replied(like only he could), "failed, you know how much i made" "and Tragic, that for folks who dont know what they're getting themselve into". I was 2 when he made the jump, was about 8 when i read about it,30 years after that I've never forgot. As a interesting sidebar ABC sports was unwilling to pay large pre cost for a fringe event, Evel undeterred went looking for a pay-per-view platform, but who would promote what many considered a televised suicide, an up and coming company, Top Rank promotions and it's leader Bob Arum.
