Ive always been a fan of Floyd and always defended him until recently.
I see Floyd now, and i see an individual that looks very insecure. People who use money as a crutch, are usually the most unhappy people. I remember seeing Floyd many years ago, and he was a stand up guy from a PR standpoint. Floyd wanted what DelaHoya had as far as being loved by many, along with making top dollar. Well he decides to play the villain to get into the spotlight. Now theres nothing wrong with that, as I think it was a brilliant business move. Problem is that, i think besides the money, he wanted to be loved be the masses even more. He really wanted the public behind him. Well the whole bad guy role was maybe done way to well, and people labeled him just as a loud mouth. For the masses, if your gonna be a loud mouth, everyone wants you to fight the fights that the public want, no matter if we think that Floyd would dominate that fighter. The whole "I fight for $$$ not legacy" I think is nothing more than a cover up for him being very insecure at this point.
Floyds latest rant on USTREAM, sounds and looks like nothing more than someone who is really hurting inside. I remember after the Baldomir and JMM fight, Floyd was trying to be respectful, but Max Kellerman, and Larry, kind of really gave him a hard time. Same for RUGGED on the radio. Sure Rugged, raised some valid points, but he started off with an attack tactic, that would offend a lot of people.
Floyd has tried to be the peoples champ, like Oscar was and Manny is, but it looks more and more so that its killing him that he trains so hard and works so hard, but he still cant get the love i think he so craves. I think the whole "Floyd is doing all this for hype". I dont buy that anymore. Mannys popularity seems to really have gotten to Floyd with his rising status. I can certainly see why Floyd would be upset. Floyd was on his way to being "THE GUY" in boxing like Oscar was, and out of nowhere here comes Pac.
Floyd has the ability to beat ANYONE. It just seems like hes letting emotion take over, and when that happens, calculations and rational go out the door. All in all i could be totally wrong, but i just see an individual that all he ever wanted was acceptance, and instead he gets the cold should from the masses, and thats what is killing him, and makes him go on rants and very extra defensive such as the way he is now.
