You're rather clueless and delusional if you think that 42 year old, fat Toney, is relevant in boxing today. Last time he beat someone that matters was Holyfield in 2003.

UFC is too small, too irrelevant, and pays too little to attract best boxers in their prime. Washed up has beens or never were's is the best they can hope to get.

Are you going sit there and pretend that it's impossible for a striker to develop Chuck-like takedown defense?

Let me remind you that GSP (originally a karate guy) never wrestled before going to MMA, and he's not only stopping takedowns from D1 champions but also taking them down at will and dominating them on the ground.

Amazing athlete like Manny should be able to pick up takedown defense rather quickly, and certainly much quicker than your average MMA fighter who isn't half the athlete that Manny is.

Actually, in case you were not around, there was a considerable pro Toney movement ever since the fight was announced and leading into his mma fight. In boxing, no one cares about James Toney and he is completely irrelevant, but for some reason, there was big hype around him rolling around with ****s in mma.

If you posted in hopes to differentiate Pacquiao's shot in mma from Toney, and you think he will stroll in a KO everyone, then you sir, are the one who is clueless

It's not impossible, but it's not likely either. You look at the number of strikers who came into MMA when they were pretty well established within their own sport and were actually able to pick up top level takedown defence, and there's really only Cro Cop. And Cro Cop was in his mid-twenties.

There's fighters who've been in this game for years and they just don't learn to stop takedowns. Shogun for example.

Furthermore, I don't even think most MMA fighters would need to be able to score clean takedowns on boxers. If they don't complete the takedown, I think the majority can pull guard/halfguard and sweep or submit from there.

Manny can do well in MMA.

And I predicted exactly what happened last Satuday night so I'm not biased towards boxing. I know Pac would take it very seriously if he did it. He also has quick feet and a defense made for MMA striking. He moves in and out in and out similar to Machida. Of course it's going to be tough to learn take down defense and BJJ in such a short period of time, but if he gave it a year then took on a reasonable matchup, I'd be more much more confident in him winning than I was Toney. That's for sure.

              I've heard pacquiao does Yaw-Yan. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yaw-Yan

and also, i think pacquiao will do well in mma since his style is suited for it. this ain't james toney who is a pure boxer, just like floyd. pure boxers wont survive in mma, but an aggressive boxer who could punch hard would.

lol Randy Couture stood safely 5 feet away from Toney and took a wild flying leap at the leg of an old fat washed up Boxer because he didn't even want to get close.

Manny would wreck em, especially with a little of that take down defense.

                  Barako

Why talk of fighting with a different group if the fans are clamouring for Pacquiao/Mayweather fight. Is this another way of ducking a good opponent?
Fight Pacquiao and the whole world will salute you if you win. If you don't fight Pacquiao...you won't have the chance to be called great. You will be remembered as a boxer who likes to fight smaller boxers who are past their prime. Look at Manny Pacquiao, he is not afraid to fight anybody. If you don't know how to read maybe your advisers have told you about his accomplishments. Now, do you like to be Manny Pacquiao or you do you like to be a chicken all the time?
