    Pacquiao-Margarito PPV goes for $54.95

If you were wondering how much the November 13th bout between Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito will set you back on pay per view, Dan Rafael is reporting that the bout will cost $54.95 on PPV. Wow, that’s incredible. That’s got to be some kind of mistake or something because there’s no way they could put a hefty price tag like that in a fight like this involving a guy coming off of a recent suspension for loaded hand wraps and another guy that will be fighting for a world title at another catch weight. Heck, you can make an argument that Margarito is a shot fighter since 2009. He’s looked bad in recent fights and pretty much has dropped of the radar screen with even hardcore boxing fans.

How can this fight be for $54.95? I can’t even see it being on pay per view. This is an ESPN fight as far as I’m concerned. This is like Friday Night Fights material, not for a PPV at that price. What do you get for that kind of money? You get a main event where Pacquiao and Margarito have almost zero experience at junior middleweight, fighting for the vacant WBC title at a catch weight of 151. That is so wrong. Margarito has fought once in the past six years ago junior middleweight, and Pacquiao has never fought at that weight.

The undercard bouts aren’t even set yet, but there’s talk of the recently exposed Kelly Pavlik fighting and you know it won’t be against a real threat because he just lost badly to Sergio Martinez in his last fight. So, you get a mismatch between Pacquiao and Margarito, and then probably another huge mismatch between Pavlik and whoever. And then you got Guillermo Rigondeaux taking on someone that he’ll destroy, of course. Those guys aren’t enough for me to want to pay $55 to see a bunch of mismatches.

For that kind of money, I want to see Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. get served up to Miguel Cotto or Pavlik. I want to see some blood for that kind of cash and not someone like Margarito who I already saw get drilled into the canvas by Mosley. The Margarito-Pacquiao fight isn’t even interesting. The guy looks like a shell of himself now and he’s going to get destroyed. Why isn’t Pacquiao being matched against better fighters like Sergio Martinez, Paul Williams, Timothy Bradley, Shane Mosley or Andre Berto. Why do boxing fans have to pay huge money to watch him beat up on a guy that couldn’t get a boxing license in Nevada or California and had to go to Texas of all places to get one. I see this as a fight as a free one and not PPV quality. I don’t care how many mismatches Bob Arum puts on the undercard, I still see this a non-PPV fight, but if it was a PPV fight, I certainly wouldn’t price it as $54.95.

I understand you are a Cotto fan but man just no to everything you typed. This fight will do very well on PPV, better than Pac vs Cotto did.

Everyone deserves a second chance at life...I will leave it at that

I would like Pacquiao to fight someone else too, but... if you really mean what you just wrote then:

This fight should of course be on HBO PPV, and I guess it'll get around 1 million buys.

The fight is a farce but it certainly is PPV worthy.

1 more reason i won't be watching this fight live, probably watch it when it hits HBO. Not taking anything away from Pac, i just don't like anything about him winning a belt against a fighter who has had 1 fight at that weight, 4 pound below the limit. To be honest if it was a regular fight with no titles at stake, even if it was at 150, i'd pay $50 for it, but not $55.
