I just finished watching pacquiao vs Cotto and boy , those first 3 rounds were pretty good. LOL I actually thought Cotto could pull it off. (I remember thinking that watching it live)
But back to topic. My predictions are based on Pacquiaos offensive style and Margarito's defensive style
Defense less Marg is just what Freddy wants.
Pacquiao is a punching machine. He didnt stop throwing against Cotto , and Cotto was trying to counter and made him use somewhat of a strategy and some technique for the first few rounds. After that , Cotto couldnt adjust or keep up.
He did not stop throwing against Clottey , and all Clottey did was cover.
So its evident Pacquiao will not stop punching , thats his style , thats his strength , combined with speed , its a pretty good and deadly combination.
The only reason why Mayweather vs Pac is interesting is because Mayweather is a defensive mastermind.
I remember a few weeks back someone started a thread saying that anybody could be as good as Mayweather is defensively if they trained for it. And no I dont see it. I think its one of his most polished and unique skills that separate him from the other top fighters.
Mayweather has tremendous reflexes , IQ , and counter punching abilities that make him great and hard to beat.
On the other hand , margarito is a punching machine , just like pacquiao , but with almost no defense. He relies on his chin. He is pretty slow and sluggish, He sticks his jab out once thrown almost like preparing his straight right to be thrown and telegraphs his punches. Cottos stamina betrayed him and hurt him bad.
We all saw Cotto outboxing Marg close to perfection for about 4 rounds before they started trading evenly. And Cotto was landing at will , but not capitalizing. And I say that just to make you guys , have a fresh idea and visualize margs defense. Because I know the Margarito lovers will come and say , oh get over it this and that. Im just giving my opinion , backed with some facts from a Margarito fight thats all.
when I think of Pacquiao , I think of a great fighter , but a fighter with not the greatest technique. If any , pacquiao throws it out the window when he is tested and when a fight breaks up.
He loves to trade , he loves to let his hands go , he is not scared to get hit. He wants the kill every time. And Margarito is not scared of getting hit either.
But this is where Pacs advantage in speed makes the difference. And where his high volume , different difficult angles , and killer speed style will prevail.
Because Margarito doesnt give a **** about getting hit. And you cant do that against pac. Cotto didnt capitalize , he stepped back. pac wont. Pac will hit you , jump back , jump back in front of you , throw another combination , keep hitting you , from different angles. With tremendous speed , and eventually buzz you , and from that buzz he will hurt you , he will blind you , he will throw from so many angles that he will hurt you and knock you down , and eventually frustrate you and stop you.
Thats how I see it.
Who ever wins will get nothing but credit from me , because even tho I think of Margarito as just a warrior with a great heart , a good chin and some pop. He is a beats and a hard opponent for anybody. And Pac has just proven he takes on anybody anywhere anytime and he puts his opponents out great fashion.
So lets hope the fights is competitive , which I really doubt , and at least makes it to the 8th round and its not a blowout
