He's now fighting a banned cheater for a vacant belt at a catchweight. Another fighter who is coming off a brutal KO loss just like Cotto and Hatton Who just happen to be the biggest wins of Pacquiao's career.
Pacman admits that he thinks Margarito knew he was cheating but still elects to fight him despite the vast majority feeling that Margarito should never be allowed to box again, nevermind against a guy who is supposedly the "pound for pound king". But we all know that's nonsense anyway.
What's going to happen after this? Pacquiao will proberbly once again refuse drug testing and a megafight with Floyd Mayweather Jr in order to fight another damaged opponent at a catchweight. Don't be fooled by his "good guy" image because this man has never been interested in fighting the best and giving the fights they want to see. Let's look back....
Erik Morales defeated him but then lost every round to Zahir Raheem in his next fight. Surely anyone respectable, dignified champion would then fight the winner to prove himself? WRONG! Pacquiao ducked Raheem and fought Morales at 130 instead. An entire weight division below what he was for the Raheem fight. As if that wasnt bad enough, Team Pacquiao put weight penalties in the contract meaning that had Morales hydrated properly then he would have been fined an absurd amount. To add insult to injury Pacquiao entered the ring weighing 145lbs.
Pacquiao moved up to Lightweight and fought David Diaz. He didnt fight the Ring Magazine Lightweight champion Casamayor. He didnt fight the WBA/WBO champion Juan Diaz. He fought the lightly regarded, C level paper champion Diaz. So much for "fighting the best"!
Pacquiao fought Cotto for the WBO Welterweight belt that Cotto had won from Jennings. Cotto was NOT the true welterweight champion because he lost his belt to Margarito. Who then lost it to Shane Mosley. Becuase of this Mosley was considered the best welterweight. But Pacquiao being Pacquiao refused to fight Mosley because he was "too good of a fighter" according to Freddie Roach and fought the damaged Cotto instead.
As you would expect Floyd Mayweather Jr who has always fought the best throughout his career fought Mosley and won a lopsided decision. Pacquiao continues to duck both Mosley and Mayweather and fight damaged opponents such as Antonio Margarito. Who was recently banned from boxing for loading his gloves. But "Pacman" doesnt care, as long as he can get another paper belt and avoid facing a legit opponent.
