    Contemporary Flops

You know what is a "flop"? Someone is expected to do something, but does the exact opposite. Lets talk about some recent "flops" in boxing:

Daniel Jacobs, being built up by Golden Boy and HBO as "the next big thing", only to burnout and wreck live on National Television by getting brutally KO'd in round 5 against Dmitry Pirog. You could say, Jacobs had a harsh brush with reality.

Steve Molitor, at one time had racked up about 4 straight impressive defenses of his IBF 122lb title, and was being talked about as one of the best technicians in the game. Unification bout with Caballero was a god damn disaster and Steve looked scared in getting KO'd in round 4.

Chad Dawson, American P4P member who was convincingly and shockingly upset in Canada to limited brawler Jean Pascal. No, thats not the way that "P4P" fighters like Dawson are supposed to lose.

    Name some more flops!

lol, Steve Molitor was the funniest flop. If anyone has watched the fight Molitor/Caballero you'd know what I mean.

That fight was textbook definition of "flop".

I think it's too early to call Daniel Jacobs a flop. Let's see how he fares in his next few outings before we completely write him off. I'm impartial to him but just because an up and coming fighter loses doesn't mean he's a bust. Golden Boy hypes all their fighters as the next big thing (Khan, Ortiz, Alvarez, Jacobs). It's their job as promotors.

I don't think Dawson is a flop either, but I do believe he lacks the killer instinct he needs to gain star power. Again, he lost one fight so we need to see how he fares from here on.

The biggest flop that comes to my mind is Jeff Lacy.
