Comments Thread For: Senchenko vs Navarro Early Results From Donetsk

WBO #11 and WBC #18 super middleweight Stas Kashtanov (28-0, 15 KOs) proved his potential with a short destruction of the BBU International champion Ruslans Pojonisevs (11-10-1, 8 KOs) of Latvia. The Latvian was down once in the first and three time more in the second after wicked body punches by bigger/stronger Kashtanov. Freddie Roach worked Ukrainian's corner in this one. Time of stoppage was 1:21 of the second.

Isn't it about time that Kashtanov steps up and faces someone worthwhile?

He has been a "prospect" for 5-6 years now, he is now 28-0, and he has yet to face anyone near world class.

Kashtanov was scheduled to meet another unbeaten prospect today, 13-0 Kostya Piternov, but that fight fell through for some reason. Or it never was ON, whatever...

The headline fight was good! But Senchenko looked old...

Senchenko is a classic paper champion. Nice record but he hasn't beaten anyone. Navarro had no business in a title fight and Senchenko struggled with him. Senchenko would have no chance against any of the legit top welterweights but I suppose he will continue defending his "title" at home against second-rate opponents and retire with a really bloated record

Senchenko's opposition isn't any worse than the very protected Andre Berto.

And at least he doesn't seek his opponents from smaller weight divisions.

Lol, wait wtf?! Am I seeing right? Tunney with a Mexican in his avy? Last week I believe he also had a black man James Toney in his avy. Wow. MLKs dream seems to be coming true.

Come on Tunney, you know that's bull****. I am in no way a Berto fan, but his last three opponents, Collazo, Urango and Quintana are better than anyone Senchenko has ever come within 5,000 miles of fighting. Navarro was ranked 63rd by boxrec and coming off a loss to Lujan in his last meaningful fight. Before that Senchenko "defended" against a Japanese welterweight who had never beaten anyone or fought outside of Japan. He's like the guy he beat for the "title," Nuzhnenko, who never beat anyone but had a pretty record and avoided the big boys
