Sorry bub, but Randy admitted defeat before stepping into the ring by building his gameplan around avoiding a stand up fight. He admitted he was TOO AFRAID to stand toe-to-toe with Toney. I don't care what your standards are, but according to my standards that is a coward. If you admit defeat in a toe-to-toe battle before it even happens then you are a coward.

I don't mind fighters who lose on their feet or take a beating on their feet like Marcus Davis did. He had heart and showed it. Or like Calderon did last night. They were both man enough to stand their ground and test themselves. All Couture did was wrestle a boxer (with no wrestling background) to the floor, and once he knew he was in the safe, acted like a big tough guy reigning down blows. What a little b****.

as a boxing fan first, and MMA fan second, i was amazed at how many dumb Fs were saying toney would KO randy, randy was going to killed, etc.

i have no idea what the hell they were smokin'

toney WAS a great boxer (a long time ago)

now he is a mess, and fighting out of his sport....i mean serousily, boxing fan or mma fan or both, it was ******ed to expect this fight going any other way

(and i still think a decent boxer who isn't and old fat lazt POS could do ok in MMA with about a year of training, TDD and such)

and of coarse there's Toney for talking so much trash and humiliating himself along with boxing for some cash and attention...dude is a sell out, I'm glad I was never a fan

but props to Dana and his company UFC, can't hate on their hustle and the way they market and spin things....and for Couture of coarse for doing what he had to do
i think ufc made themselves look like jerks last night with that side show of NON COMPETITION.

it proved nothing, it showed nothing, it wasn't competitive, and a fight that should've never been made.

to me, having one of my stars in my organization, fight a totally inexperienced guy in a non competitive fight like that was pointless, and any true fan of any combat sport should and does know, it was crap from the beginning and wouldn't be competitive.

i hope couture feels good about himself. i know i wouldn't feel too well of myself if i beat up a handicapped guy or some down syndrome kid up. because that was the basic skill level a toney up against couture.

anyone of us would've had the same chance against couture, some of us maybe a better chance, but it was like taking anyone off the street and fight couture in coutures game. it was lame as ****.

i think that match up embarrassed ufc as much as it did toney.

it sure as **** didn't make ufc or mma look superior, maybe to the uneducated in combat sports, but the rest of us looked at this fight as a side show, nothing more, and a poor one at that.

I have no problem with Couture, he is a humble man, a great fighter, and an incredible athlete. What I do have a problem with is the matchup itsself. You take a 5'9" 237 pound out of shape boxer and take him out of his element vs a 6'1" mma fighter that is in his element. Toney basically never had a chance. He was giving up height, reach, conditioning, and years upon years of training and experience. This fight proves absolutely nothing in the mma vs boxing argument. All the mma fans screaming "this proves it" apparently have already forgotten what happened to Tim Sylvia.

i pretty much agree with most of this, except toney kinda asked for it

i would have no problem seeing an older boxer try and get some MMA fights with B/C level MMA fighters

but toney was the one talking mountains of trash

but hey, he took the fight, so respect for that, but geez, ugly

who cares MMa only equalized last night. We still have Mercer KTFO Sylvia who was a multiple time UFC champion. Mercer KTFO Sylvia brutally and much faster than Randy tapped out Toney. Took Randy about 4 minutes, took Mercer 15 seconds to destroy Sylvia.

We're equal now MMA. Next time boxing will go one up again, hopefully when Mayorga returns and knocks that ****in **** out

I love how MMA fighters and those in the MMA media are saying this will convert boxing fans into MMA fans. How's that? Gee, let me bring a respected, beloved boxer that is past his prime, put him in the cage with one of our best, embarrass him, gloat about it, crap all over your sport, draw all sorts of implications about how MMA is better than boxing, and then see if that makes you like us more.

Nope. Sorry. This isn't gonna win over any boxing fans. It is having the opposite effect.

This is the only way to look at this fight....Couture got his black belt in Jiu Jitsu that night. It takes about 6-8 years to get a black belt in Jiu Jitsu. Toney has only been training for nine months. That is not even enough to get past a white belt. So of course he was going to get choked out. I told my friend Toney was going to get his ass choked.

Now everyone was saying how they hoped more boxers go into the MMA ring and fight. But what about MMA fighters? Why don't they step up into a boxing ring?

Exactly. Every comment of Dana"2"White towards dissing boxing from day one. The only positive comments from her go to Pacman but always bad mouth's todays #1 P4P. The whole set up is to replace boxing and make much much more money with the NEW gladiator sport.
In my case, I just hate all that menhugging sht and Boxing has been around for more than centuries. Put the kid to sleep Dana and respect Boxing.
Why didn't she bring on of the Klits to face Couture.
I'll be my house that Couture won't step in to Boxing unless is a fight with Frazier.. Marvin that is... LOL
