Eubank To Make A Shock Comeback?!

    25 July 2005

EXCLUSIVE: EUBANK 'FORCED TO SELL £4M MANSION'
    By Emily Nash
LORD of the Manor Chris Eubank has been downgraded to a humble tenant after secretly selling his £4million mansion.

The ex-boxer, 38, who has been plagued by money troubles, is on the ropes with the Inland Revenue.

It is believed that he owes more than £1million in unpaid tax bills.

He sold his gated, mock Tudor family home in Hove, East Sussex, to a property firm a fortnight ago.

A source said Eubank - who earned more than £10million in the ring - is now paying rent to stay put while wife Karron, 41, and their four children have moved to a £1.6million pad.

They moved out while Eubank was at Lennox Lewis's wedding last weekend, sparking rumours of a rift. But the couple denied they were splitting. Eubank insisted: "We have two houses and both need to be manned."

But a source said he no longer owns the mansion and another house in the grounds which boasts its own gym.

New owners Derry-based Taggart Homes Ltd refused to comment.

The source added: "It seems odd that they are being so secretive, if as they say, there are no problems in the marriage."

On Tuesday, Eubank called at his wife's beachfront house, but sat in his £54,000 Hummer truck while one of his children went inside.

It is believed by some that a shock return to the ring may even be on the cards, a source close to Eubank stating last month: "For a good six to nine months now he's been working out really hard, not on weights or anything but pad work and bag work mainly, he looks at Carl Thompson and sees that he's a champion right now and older than he is. He looks at Hopkins who is 40. He looks at Clinton Woods and has a think, he saw Calzaghe look rubbish against some guy last year and he goes and starts training all serious."

Eubank, who once paid £45,000 for the title Lord of the Manor of Brighton, has taken a series of financial blows since quitting the ring in 1998. It includes being sued by American Express for failing to pay nearly £120,000 owed on credit cards and a £36,000 tax bill.

The former middleweight world champion said in a 1992 interview: "The taxman doesn't allow you to stop. He's a gangster."

An HM Revenue and Customs spokesman said: "Whether a person is a celebrity or not our position will be the same for anyone who owes tax."

Maybe I'm being paranoid but it's possible that Clinton Woods made the following remark because he'd been contacted about a possible fight with Eubank, who knows?

Mind you, have to be careful with Eubank - he'd probably want to get in the ring with his monacle and cane and fight the winner himself!

Do you know what I mean??

I hope Eubank doesn't have to fight. Some sort of fight against another older fighter, say Hearns, would be pointless but maybe fun to watch, but I don't see the point.

I think BRuno is going to build an early lead and even hurt Chris a couple of times but he will run out of gas like he always does and Eubank will stop him late...should be a hell of a fight though!

Hearns vs. Eubank...provided Chris can get by Bruno this could be a great fight!

I think there should be a senior circuit in boxing like there is in golf, can you imagine a middleweight tourney with all of Juyjuy's boys plus Jones, Hearns, Jackson, McCallum..I think we have something here...Sorry Roy you will have to wait a couple more yers still even though your getting iced pretty good on the regular circuit...

                Senior boxing...very nice!

No deaths, I will call for squeaky clean physicals and a controlled environement, kind of like "coach pitch" for the t-ball kids.
