ali's foot work is way better you gotta give defense to mayweather but over all skill ali big time. both are way better boxers than pacquiao though.

          Disagreed.

While Floyd Mayweather doesn't move around as much as a prime Cassius Clay/Ali did, he didn't have to. Ali dazzled the 1960's audience with his footwork and movement but he wasted a lot of unnecessary energy and unlike Floyd, he can't plant his feet and punch as well on the inside or to the body.

Perfect example, past his prime during the Rope-A-Dope era, he got beat up and took the type of punishment that a prime or past prime Floyd never would. Floyd would counters in those situations much better, whereas Ali only shoe-shines with fast combos sporadically.

P4P Skill wise Floyd > Ali.

Would Floyd Mayweather keep getting tagged by the same left hook from Joe Frazier for over 15 rounds?

Ali had a atg chin but theres a reason why he looks the way he does. He didn't have the defensive skills floyd does. But then again he was a heavyweight

Ali in his prime had great skills but relied mostly on his athleticism and reflexes, he wasn't as technically sound as he was later on or as Floyd was in his prime.

He did silly things at times but got away with it because he was so fast.

                Floyd takes this.

The question was prime for prime who was more skilled, Ali wasn't in his prime vs Frazier

Holmes has said many times that Ali's skills were over rated. While I think he is somewhat jealous of being over shadowed by Ali, he is also right.

                  FMJ wins this one.
