The difference maker is OBVIOUSLY Alex Ariza. Whether it be from PED or legit methods, things changed when HE came to camp. It's not like Roach suddenly went to "trainer school" to further his trainer education. I'm just saying.....
KNOWRISK: how does freddie roach when trainer of the year when....

You know, in a way that is somewhat true, but not completely. His conditioning does make a huge difference. A perfect example of that is Chavez Jr. Roach only had him for 5 weeks, so there's no way he could have done THAT much to him. But the conditioning gave him that speed, power and ability to move better. Although his stamina could still use some work.
I think its a combination of the two. Ariza makes the fighters able to fight at their full potential, and Roach teaches them new techniques. But Ariza does not do everything, because if that was true, Concepcion would be on top of the Featherweight division and Garcia would have knocked Margarito out. Ariza worked with the two of them, but Roach didn't.Last edited by BoxerDood; 08-28-2010, 10:51 AM. -
Alex Ariza was selling vending machines. He's not a scientist who can concoct special PEDs that defy detection that no other strength and conditioning coach can produce.Comment

Ariza knows the physical body. Strength and conditioning. Not peaking and leaving the fight in the gym. All this is a very strict schedule.
Roach knows Boxing. A student of the game (we cannot deny that). He knows what to look for with each opponent, habits, etc. Every fight is different, and some trainers just train their fighter to fight their way, and not adjust to what their competition calls for.
just my opinion.Comment
