Margarito is the man to beat at 154

Ranked #1 by the WBC and the WBA.

He has KO wins over Cotto and Margarito. Margarito is also the WBC international champ after domianting Garcia to win a lopsided decison.

Pacquiao is fighting the best for sure. He is going to make history and maybe go above SRR with a record 8th belt in diferent wieght classes. Henry Armstrongs achievement is not that great now Pacquiao is about to better it.

Margarito is not even ranked in the Top 10 by Ring Magazine at 154.

He is absolutely not the man to beat at 154, there are much more accomplished and credible opponents at 154 including:

      Dzinziruk
      Martinez
      Angulo
      Cotto

The WBC is a corrupt organisation and wrongfully stripped Martinez of his 154 belt, because they knew they could make more cash with a Margarito fight.

Henry Armstrong fought in an era where there was 1 recognised, undisputed Champion, per weightclass. In Pac's era we have multiple Belts (WBA,WBC,WBO,IBO,IBF), which basically means he is nothing more than a paper champion.

Not to mention there were only 8 weight divisions and not the 17? or so divisions in boxing today.

Armstrong also had longevity at welterweight and racked up an incredible 18 successive title defences at Welterweight (Still the record), something which Pacquiao has not accomplished.

Armstrong is rated much higher than Pacquiao by numerous, respected and knowledgeable boxing historians.

I agree with the Armstrong part of the post. Angulo lost to Cintron.

And Margs beat both Cotto and Cintron.

The other guys esp Dzinziruk are good.

^^^^^Margarito defeated a green Martinez who has grown astronomically since that fight into a brilliant, slick, southpaw fighter.

Margarito defeating Cotto also has little meaning as it was at weltweight a few years ago.

            Since then;

Margarito has gone 1-1, got hammered by Mosley, suspended for 1 year for attempting to cheat and fought a D-class opponent in Garcia.

Cotto has gone 3-1, lost to Pacquiao, defeated Clottey and Jennings, also jumped to 154 and defeated the WBA champ in Foreman.

You still have not given us any worthwhile reasons as to why you believe Tony is the man-to-beat at 154.

Froch has a victory over the RING LHW Champ Pascal, so going by this train of thought, if Froch decides to become a 175 pound fighter,

I have Dzinziruk and Martinez, then Margarito based on his legacy as a long time welter champ of 16 plus championship fights and victories against others in that moved to that division now. I think legacy should count since some of these guys have fought each other somewhere down the line.

The sanctioning bodies are a joke if that's true. And your also a disgrace for claiming Pacquiao is fighting the best. Margarito? Please. The guy is a bum. Everyone knows the best fighters are 154 are Paul Williams, Sergiy Dzinziruk and Shane Mosley who is moving back up.

Pacquiao is once again cherry picking a damaged opponent at a catchweight and it is bad for the sport, but it's become a painful reality. Unfortunetly he has no intention of fighting the best or giving the fans the fights we want.
