My definition of shot is probably a little different than yours. I define a shot fighter as someone who isn't in the same state mentally, isn't as willing to take big shots as he used to be and possibly cuts and bruises a lot more. Diaz is a perfect example of that. Marquez took a lot away from him, and made him look at his future away from boxing a lot more. You could see it in the rematch. Arreola is another example in my opinion. Adamek took away his confidence, and you could see it in the Quezada fight. If he didn't give a s**t about boxing before, now he doesn't give a flying f**k.
Could Khan-Guzman be a possibility?

actually ure missing the point, cuz neither did panda. u stated khan fighting a former alexander victim would be just like alexander fighting a former khan victim. my argument is that urango's a C-class fighter and kotelnik's a B-class fighter...
at this point khan shouldnt have to prove anything other than that he can beat bradley and alexander. does need more seasoning? well then u could say the same for alexander, but frankly nobody wants to see these keep busy fights anymore. khan talked the talk now he should walk the walk
putting ortiz and khan on the same card is building a fight up. dont forget golden boy keeps the winner
why is it contractually ineligible for maidana to fight khan at the end of the year? been on a holiday for 3 weeks so mightve missed something but hes fighting corley tomorrow..
ure right on the last part though, but maidana being his mando actually makes it a lot worse with khan not fighting him. uve got two guys who are due to fight eachother and are able to do so come december...why need a substitute?
Urango may be a C guy skills-wise but he evens it up with physical qualities and intangibles.
Urango is not a C- minus guy overall, that's a dumb assessment.
In the same way that Kotelnik provided Alexander a technical test that Urango couldn't, Urango provides Khan a test in pressure-physicality and power that Kotelnik couldn't.
Devon and Khan are both still contenders IMO, just contenders with crap-straps.
Yes, I think Khan could benefit from a little more seasoning against a variety of styles before he's ready to go against Bradley for that 'best 140lber' tag. And, yeah, it would appear Devon could, too, although it looks like he's up next...hey, somebody's got to be.
Bradley's the man at that weight until someone beats him (or even comes close).
The rest can all just fight each other in any order...cool, whatever.
What don't you get?...if Golden Boy are going to put 2 of their brightest hopes together, they will want to make as big a deal as possible out of it. December is not plausible for them to fight, GBP wouldn't do that.
There was a rumor, circulated by some industry sources, that, as part of the Maidana-Cayo contract, the winner would be made ineligible to fight Khan for 12 months or 3 fights (whichever came first) in exchange for a set number of HBO appearances.Last edited by MACAQUEINBLACK; 08-28-2010, 12:14 AM.Comment

fighting Guzman wouldn't be a bad thing AT ALL!!! but only if Maidana loses to Corley or get injured or something
regardless of the weight BULL****, Guzman is not just some easy warm up fight for anyone, I don't think he will have any problems with weight at 140...I Hope!Comment

And, BTW - unlike some of you silly farts, I'm not that concerned with boxers' 'talk' and don't consider it a guage of when they're ready to do what.
Khan-Urango wouldn't be a keep-busy fight, it'd be a legitimate fight between two top 140lb contenders if it happened...dummy.Comment

Yeah you could be right. But I would give Urango a chance because at this point in Paulie's career, he's pretty easy to hit. He has zero head movement and keeps his hands low even when his opponent is in range. His defense is his jab. If he can't keep you away with his jab then he's literally gonna take flight run away and last the distance. I saw that in the Hatton, second N'Dou and Ngoudjo fights. I honestly don't know how he got the decision against N'Dou in the rematch or Ngoudjo...Comment

Exactly. That's why I see this as a possibility. Guzman is a great boxer, and Khan wouldn't have to risk getting knocked out. It would be more of a technical matchup. I actually wouldn't mind this, as long as the winner fights the Bradley-Alexander winner afterward.Comment

People throw the term 'shot' around too *******ly...shopworn, sure, shot, nah.
Paulie hasn't been himself for a good while, I don't think he has an easy night with the stronger top 140 contenders of now, Urango included.
But you're saying Urango would be a step down for Khan Legacy-wise from Malignaggi?
So let's just pretend Malignaggi's accomplishments as a pro far exceed Urango's (they don't)...then Maidana isn't exactly going to do that much more for Khan's Legacy, he'll just be an overrated guy Khan outboxed if Maidana can't land his hurtful punches.
I'm a BIG Paul fan.Comment

Baracuda, did you watch Malignaggi-Ngoudjo and Malignaggi-N'dou II?
I mean, actually watch them, not boxrec them?
Paulie arguably lost both...he was rocked to his boots by Herman.
Paulie isn't exclusively hittable to guys with Khan-speed and Cotto-ability and hasn't been for a while.Comment

guess ure not right about everything...anymore

Both of these guys beat Paulie and got robbed (well Paulie won the first N'Dou fight). There wasn't any speed that troubled him. He just got completely outworked and blamed it on his trainer.Comment
