His super loyal fans know, he is far past it, can't beat an elite fighter at this stage.
He isn't screwing us at all... we know what he's got left, we know the risk of buying his fight, that it could turn into another short loss, or another long cant pull the trigger loss.
But his super loyal fans... are just that... They take the bad with the good and the good with the bad.. and as long as he decides to fight, they will support him... and they are ok with it.... because at one point in time... he was the best they ever saw.
Thats why they are super loyal fans.
End of.
I understand the notion of a former great trying to reclaim the glory, trying to somehow summon one last great fight within himself. It saddens me but I understand it, it's something we've seen many times as boxing fans.
But the BHop fight was the last straw for me. That's the fight you call it a day on. He couldn't even let his hands go ahead a 45 year old Hopkins, FFS. And it was a PPV event too.
Right now, I'm not even interested in a last fight in Pensacola, he already had that chance to end it on that note.
Seeing Roy for the fighter he is now doesn't make me any less of a fan. I'll cherish all that Roy did for the sport, But this gun-shy, shot version who fights with no confidence is not something that Roy needs to sell anymore. He knows better than anyone that he has nothing left.
Time to call it a day. Simple as that.

Extremely amused by some of the comments here. Old as hell shot ass Roy Jones would embarrass a 35yr old man who has never had a boxing match. Danny Green KOs Kimbo one handed.
