Comments Thread For: Tyson Fury-Jason Gavern Bout in Play For September 10

It's being reported by BBC Sport that British heavyweight Tyson Fury (11-0, 9KOs) will meet Jason Gavern (19-7-4, 8KOs) on September 10 at York Hall in Bethnal Green, London. Showtime plans to televise the fight as part of their ShoBox series. Gavern is much better than his record indicates. He upset Manuel Quezada in April by winning a ten round split decision and then came back in May to fight Johnathon Banks to a draw in Germany. [Click Here To Read More]

Fury better be in shape for the first time in his career 'cause I can't see him stopping Gavern.

It's quite a bold move by Mick to put Fury in with someone like Gavern so soon.

I just hope Fury is good enough to beat Gavern comfortably.

I'm glad Gavern got the nod for this fight. He's becoming a gatekeeper to the heavyweight division because he's tough and always puts forth an honest effort. That said, I'd like to see Jason KTFO Tyson Fury....

Jason Gavern is one of the most boring boxers I've ever seen. He holds more than John Ruiz.

I was hoping Fury would be facing a decent American journeyman like Travis Walker, who is always entertaining.

First time I've seen him on TV was a fight with Denis Boytsov. And after this I must admit that Gavern can be the MOST ENTERTAINING FIGHTER in the division. He was also a sparring partner of Valuev - don't underestinate this.

Travis Walker is more "chinny" than Oleg Maskaev and has been on a losing streak all this year. Gavern is a durable fighter and doesn't get KO'd often...

Lets see is Fury can actually get himself into shape for once, because this fight would be a decent test. I can see him losing if he is in poor shape as per usual.

gavern is one of my favorite boxers.he does hold alot but hes usually smaller & outgunned by his opponents.he'll fight anyone, anywhere anytime.what more can you ask from him.he will give up 50-60 pounds.in shape after a full camp hes around 210-215 although this is 2 weeks notice so i bet he will come in around 220.i have many of his fights & seen him live.hes a good guy, plays to the crowd & always comes to fight.marginal skill set but huge heart...im thinking he hands tyson fury his first loss...im glad this is the matchup...im cheering for gavern.
