  • Comments Thread For: Arum: Cotto's Surgery Won't Postpone Chavez Battle

According Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, an operation on the right shoulder of WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (35-2, 28KOs) will not postpone a planned fight against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., which is tentatively scheduled for December 4 at New York's Madison Square Garden. Chavez Jr. is now a sacrificial lamb for Cotto`s resurrection.

Pacquiao seems to be a sacrificial lamb for Margarito`s resurrection.

    All in favor of Bob.

Good thing it ain't the left shoulder, that's the bread and butter for the left hook to chavez's gut that will end it.

Many people don't know this but Cotto suffered an auto accident in 2001 & broke his right arm in 3 different places & according to doctor's his career was in jeopardy..He had screws & a rod put in his arm & Doctors told him if he was ever going to fight again he would have to wait over a year or so..He was in the ring fighting 7 months later!!! In the Foreman fight Cotto was fighting with a pinched nerve caused by the rod & it actually started bothering him during training for the Foreman fight!! that's the reason for his surgery..He got the screws & rod taken out..Just to show He's not a complaining little ***** like a lot of other fighters out there!!! (I posted this in the last thread)

I guess that Cotto is thinking that he doesn't need a full training camp for Chavez Jr. I don't think he does either.

whether Chavez is a pushover or not, Cotto should be 100 when he trains. and i dont think hes 100 after surgery last month. i would advise him to wait a little more.

Frankly, I've noticed that Puerto Rican people accept defeat much better than Mexican people. Ricans will continue to support their fighters even after a loss, while Mexicans, especially chicanoes, disgard and turn on their fallen warriors.
