What's your point. Every tv network uses Nielsen, and when you are all using the same thing it tends to even out in the end. So therefore it's not BS. You just don't know what you are talking about.

I've always wondered whether these ratings also include people who didn't watch live, but, say, on the West Coast feed, on DVR, or even On Demand. That changed a lot of how people read the ratings for The Sopranos in recent years.

I know it's the same all over the world, what is sad is these selected few basically decide what is shown on TV. The estimated 1.1 million viewers is less than 1% of American homes, less than 1% of the 25000 homes with boxes watched, 1% of 25000 is 250, so they got the 1.1 million number because around 250 people watched.

          Good ratings...

Come on HBO, step it up, we need more shows every month. If fighters price themselves out then reward the hungry fighters with 4 dates a year, they need to slash the ridiculous Berto type paychecks and increase TV dates. If a guy like Mike Jones is willing to fight 4 times a year for less money against good competition then give him a chance. Also, HBO should have some sort of huge bonuses which reward activity, a fighter fighting 4 times a year etc.

HBO is only available in around 30M homes (less than a 3rd) though and boxing is one of HBO's staples.

Thats because that was a good fight on HBO. Thats a proper HBO main event fight not some Gamboa-Salido crap that we are gonna see.

It doesn't include the DVR and on demand, just the live viewers.

I'd like to know what the contracts are for ESPN to televise tennis, WNBA, etc. and compare them to the yearly budget for boxing.

I'd also like to know what the movies usually get in the slot and how much they cost to televise because I heard it cost HBO $1.6M (without all the other expenses) to televise Pascal-Dawson.
                  All good questions.

I think Transformers 2 was played either before or after these fights, so for the boxing to do better then a big movie like that is pretty good.

I actually have a theory that Hard Knocks helps it's ratings, because all sports fans and non sports watch it, and immediately after they always promote the upcoming fights.

I always said if HBO wanted to promote there fights better they need to show a quick highlight of the fighters immediately after there top shows and people will tune in.

If the fight isn't promoted like a big fight, it won't be perceived as one.

Want to bet that Gamboa-Salido will be a competitive fight?

By competitive I mean the cards are within 4 points of each other. If 2 judges have the fight 116-112 or closer I win, anything else you win.

This doesn't go for anyone else without odds. Just for the V since he thinks Gamboa is Superman.

True, that makes it a little more impressive.

We might be able to find some of that stuff out without being on the inside like the contract and HBO's movie fees, but I doubt we can get what ESPN's yearly boxing budget is.
