  • My Thoughts on the Taylor-Hopkins Fight

I just saw the fight last night and I actually was pleasantly surprised. You guys made it sound like it was kind of boreing but Im more of a boxing guy and I actually thought it was fun to watch both guys and there chess matchup. The savy old vet vs the young raw guy with crazy physical skills.

I still had someone in my house bothering me so I wasnt 100% into all the rounds but from what I saw I thought Taylor won the fight. I also here people say that Hopkins won all the last 4 or 5 rounds easily but I saw the 9th and 8th very close and couldve went either way.

It was cool looking at someone with that kind of speed and power go against Hopkins. One thing I disagree with is that how all the Hopkins supporters say that he started too late and if he starts like he ended then he will kill Taylor in the rematch. I disagree. To me it look like while X did fight way more at the end, it still had more to do with Taylor running out of gas then Hopkins just turning it up. He didnt start to late. If he fought that way early he wouldnt have had the same success he had at the end of the fight because Taylor wouldnt have been tired and I think he wouldve won most of the exchanges.

I see Taylor winning the rematch very easily and maybe KO. I cant believe after seeing the 1st fight that people think Hopkins can win the rematch. If the younge guy won the 1st fight he is just going to get better the 2nd time around and he will have no fear of Hopkins and he will be very confident. The younger guy will get better and the older guy will just get older. I dont think Hopkins has any chance in the rematch and if you cant see that then you have a problem. Taylor made alot of mistakes, ran out of gas, was nervous, and still won. The next time he will be better in all those catagories. It will be a wide win

I stil love Hopkins though. When I saw him walk to the ring and standing in the ring I said to myself that Im going to really miss this guy. He only has a couple of fights left and there is no one like him. There is no fighter out right now who has that old school look, with that mean face, and brawling style. All the guys now look so pretty. No one has that mean, tough, intimidating look anymore and I will miss him when he's gone. No one also has that street, mean, I will **** you up look and attitude anymore. He's the last of a dying breed

You also gotta take into account that the headbutt had to throw Taylor off his gameplan. It was a nasty laceration that made me cringe looking at it. Without his dirty tactics, I don't think Hopkins can ever handle Taylor.

Not to mention it gave him a concussion! And Hopkins still couldn't finish the job!

I actually see the rematch going the exact same way but with Hopkins being SLIGHTY more aggressive(since he knows now throwing punches that dont hit wins rounds) so he should throw a little more. And of course rounds 8-12 will be Hopkins automatically. Its just Hopkins cant giveaway too many rounds this time around. What makes you think its gonna be easy work for Taylor when he couldnt hit a 40 year old man flush once?

Well, after a week I have finnaly seen the fight. Here is my take on it. I can't call it robbery. I had it as a draw. Before anyone says anithing, I am a hopkins fan, and if i was being bias on either of the fighters I would have said that (put a name here) won 7 rounds. There were too many rounds that could have gone either way, if you are looking for good defence, then you would have given those rounds to b-hop, if you like the flashines of trying to "steal" a round with a flurry then you gave it to taylor. I like a good defence and I dont think that you could steal a round in 10 sec. Wich a lot of boxers do, I guess a combo (weather)it land or not is more visual than a round of good defence. There are my 2 cents.

            Re-match??? B-Hop

No offense but there are already like 30 other Hopkins - Taylor threads. Did we really need a 31st?
