I took a thumb to my left eye when sparring 3 weeks ago. This was my first real eye injury when boxing (and in general), and it wasn't fun. Eye injuries never are.
I went straight to the hospital to get a CT scan. I fractured a bone and I was VERY lucky that nothing happened to my eye other than some swelling and blurriness that disappeared after two weeks. I recently went to do a check-up and the doctor said I was good to go but I'm not sure if I'm stepping inside the ring again this soon.

If Kessler feels something is wrong then something is wrong. It would be ****** to withdraw from the Super Six now without a reason. However, I will not be surprised if Sauerland pushes him into fighting against his own will. They've invested millions on him.

watch the last 3 or 4 MK fights... he's been blind... its really kinda scary to watch he cant see anything coming. There has been a huge change as of late. All respect to Kessler.
Plus he has maybe the most B.A. tattoo in boxing way better than tyson's mauori thing

just watch the Froch fight again. Kessler's so blind he's waving his arms around like Jean Claude VanDamme in bloodsport after that Asian dude throws salt in his eyes

President, examined Kessler and believes a proper rest is all the “Viking Warrior” needs. “Mikkel said he has been bothered by problems with his vision during the fights against Ward and Froch as well as in the training in the build-up to these fights. There is a weakness of the superior oblique muscle of his left eye. To continue boxing, the muscle needs a proper rest, meaning no fighting or sparring for nine months. After this break, a complete recovery is expected.”

Perhaps you shouldn't jump to conclusion and should know what you're talking about before condemning a man's character and bashing Kessler. I'll take the word of Professor Dr. med Gerhard Lang over yours, call me crazy.
I have that problem, basically means the muscles are weak and cant twitch fast enough to move the eyes, therefore a fighter cannot see the punches coming. (obviously thats dangerous), convergence exercises for the eyes will correct then, and special eye drops that deliver more blood flow to the muscles.

Ah OK if it's about problems with muscles then he could be getting double vision because the eyes don't correlate together. You can also do exercises for eye muscles.

              Yeah. Mikniehenko's got it right.

Kessler is having double vision so no sparring for the next nine months and then he should be good to go again. Kessler himself is devastated. He just kissed his dream goodbye, but then again injuries can happen to anybody. This particular injury is directly related to boxing and is a reminder that this sport isn't kids play.

That may be the case, and it may not. There is certainly no guarantee that Kessler recovers 100% and I stand firm on my assertion that Sauerland will have strong financial incentive to not only push Kessler to fight again, but also to downplay the severity of the condition.

Personally, I would love to see Kessler make a full recovery, but at the same time am skeptical that he is going to be willing to travel to fight in the future. Surely none of these guys will be willing to go anywhere near Denmark and going on the road against the best fighter at 168, after more than a year long layoff is a tall order, especially for someone coming off an injury like this one.

I just don't want to see the guy forced into a fight at less than 100% because his promoter wants to get his money back.

Muscle problems aren't as bad as a retina detachment for example where vision can get worse and stay that way.

With muscle weaknesses, it is quite common sometimes with kids, that's why they need a patch or are given pen to nose exercises and make them work that muscle until it's strong enough to work together.

Obviously no one wants to fight with double vision, but if Kessler does the exercises, then IMO 9 months is more than enough time. It normally affects close range when you concentrate on reading etc... but I guess in fighting too because that's kinda close.

I'm pretty sure Kessler wont be in the ring before his vision is back to normal. Why would he? He is a multimillionaire and doesn't need to put his health on the line.

At the pressconference today Kessler was having double vision and said to a reporter that he saw him double.
