I've been wrestling since I was 8years old and was a 3x california state championship qualifier in high school and still couldnt slap a triangle choke on a bjj blue belt i grappled with.

If I couldnt do it with almost 20years of grappling experience...Toney is not going to be able to do it with 6months or less of practice...I dont care how good of an athlete he is naturally.
i was simply pointing out what toney's options are should he get on his back with randy on top of him

from what ive seen, the triangle choke should be used when your have control of one or preferably both your opponents wrist/forearm

to me this fight is going to come down to how well randy's chin can hold up against toneys punches in 4 oz mma gloves however should toney win by submission that would be freaking awesome for boxing and a huge blow to ufc cuz a boxer came in and beat a ufc hall of famer at his own game LMAO

Toney's only real option if he lands on his back is to get back up asap.

Also submissions dont work as simply as you think they do. They need to be set up the same way in boxing the right hand is set up with a jab or sometimes 3-4 jabs.

The only way Toney wins by submission is Toney drops Couture and slaps on a rear naked instead of following up with punches. But if Toney hurts Couture enough to drop him UFC refs wont hesitate to call the fight knowing Toney's boxing pedigree.

I would love for Toney to win, but it's really difficult to predict this one. The smart choice would be to bet for the man with experience, and Couture has a lot more experience.

His name is KJ Noon and this dude used excellent footwork to knock a BJJ blackbelt out COLD. Although the BJJ dude wanted to shoot in, the boxer had excellent footwork and the BJJ fighter could never get within range. The difference in handspeed was obvious and he caught him with pinpoint accuracy. In fact Noon was a former middleweight champ who was stripped of his title. So they shouldn't write Toney off. All Toney needs is good enough take down defense to keep Couture off him. Couture on the other hand can't train long enough to stop Toney from hitting him if he gets within range. THATS going to be the difference maker.
Too bad KJ is Cherry picking and isn't taking on real strikers.

but KJ noons actually shows respect to mma by earnestly training in the other aspects of the game whereas Mayorga and Toney seem to be taking it as a joke and not even concerning themselves with something as simple as a sprawl.

If he did respecct it, he'd ask for Ziromskis or N.Diaz

the better question is, does Couture have the balls to step into a boxing ring and fight Toney with boxing rules ?

                I doubt it.

Couture will not stand with Toney in the octagon, first chance he gets to take him down, he will. if not, Toney will knock him the F out

Why does Couture have to compete with Toney in a boxing match?

Couture is a wrestler and Toney is a boxer. In an mma match both athletes have a medium in which they can both use their respective martial arts. Couture acknowledges Toney's skills and respects his boxing. Toney says MMA fighters are sissies and demanded to be given a fight to KO all of them. Here is his opportunity. This demand for Couture to just box with Toney really projects alot of insecurities.

Practice your anti takedown and throws James, then just KO Randy. That is all.

he dont have to. but if he has any balls he will.

to take someone at their own game, takes balls. we all know Toney has em.

the only MMA fighter to have a decent boxing record is KJ Noons, and he sucks.
