hmm
Clearly you guys are underrating Tarver. If this is an easy fight for Roy, I'd be surprised. Tarver is a tall, lanky southpaw with decent speed and awesome power.
However, Tarver has just had two rough fights with Glen Johnson and has a focus problems at times.
Next, you have to consider Roy's brain. It was clearly messed up by 4 things, occuring in succession as a snowball effect. 1) Losing large amounts of muscle mass. 2) Having a rough fight vs Tarver while dehydrated in the first fight, and also receiving many uncalled rabbit punches which left a swelling on the back of Roy's head (this also happens to be the easiest spot to injure the brain). 3) Getting stopped and concussed in the rematch. 4) Not even training for Glen Johnson or CARING, which led to an ugly KO loss on a temple shot.
With these four factors considered, and knowing the extreme delicacy of the human brain, Roy would have to be very cautious to win. Also, I haven't even brought up the fact that Roy is past his prime physically simply due to age.
Being cautious could be a problem. It could very well lead to Roy not getting Tarver's respect. Or, Roy will try to get his respect and be too slow to move out of the way of a Tarver counter. Or, Roy might back himself into the ropes, no matter how much the trainer says not to, and get TKO'd.
Or, this could happen...
Roy is motivated and trains with a real thirst for redemption. He fights the best fight he can at his age, using his ring smarts to keep the fight in the center of the ring for nearly the whole fight. He hits Tarver with a fair dose of hard rights to the body and head to get his respect, without endangering himself enough to get KO'd. Roy keeps his eyes on Tarver at all times and is completely self-aware, winning almost every round in conservative fashion.
One can only hope. Above all I pray that Roy is safe and does not get KO'd to suffer further damage.

man tis is eazy fight to predict. It's quite obvious that Tarver's style will bother Jones 10 fights outa 10. Jones' reflex aint what they used to be and Tarver seems to be on top of his game. Sure Tarver gets tired at the last rounds, but how many figthas don't?!
Jones might win a couple of rounds early, but once Tarver gets his engine runnin, then Jones' would be in deep trouble. That left hand will get in there too many times and will stop Jones once again in the late rounds.
side note: Afta he beat Ruiz, I truly wished that Jones shoulda and he coulda had the fight wit Byrd. A fighta who I believe he can beat wit great benefits to his already established legacy.

Roy looked bad in his last fight against Johnson. I was in disbelief as I watched that fight. The younger version of Roy could pull this off but we're talking about the "OLD" Roy now. He has to overcome Tarver mentally first and physically second a very tough task in boxing. If his speed and reflexes are not there he will most likely lose in similar fashion. I like Roy but just like Tyson there comes a time to hang 'em up.

roy jones has already been training very hard now.. he looks to be very fit already. all he needs to do is stay off the ropes. the only time he gets hit is when he lays on the ropes
