Exactly how I would have put it. Mosley was probably close, but the next few years ruined that chance for him.

No one is saying Floyd and Manny had nothing to do with becoming stars, but they would not have gotten the exposure to become mainstream names like they are without their respective fights against Oscar.

hopkins and mosley doesn't have a *****-like following like floyd does. for whatever reasons only *****s can answer. hopkins is just as smart, if not smarter, than floyd inside the ring so they can't say they like floyd better because of his ringsmarts. floyd is no warrior like shane was so that is out of the question too. maybe the aura of being undefeated and the slick black fighter image weighs heavily on the fans especially the black boxing fans.

Hopkins did actually become bigger with that win. Hopkins was not bigger because he never kissed a$$ . Add to that he was not the repentive ex-con that most people want to see he embraced his past and was not ashamed of what he had done most people can't understand that.

Mosley was never promoted to black people and he didn't promote himself to black people. So why should black people have followed Mosley? Yes nobody can deny that was Mosley was a hell of a fighter but in any business you reach out to a market if you want that markets following and dollars and that is something Mosley never did which put a big hurt on him financially.
