Doug Fischer: "Wlad Klitschko would've been dangerous to ANYBODY in history even Ali"

It's good that a prominent media member is willing to step up and tell the truth.
In any sport people romanticize the past greats, and look down upon those who try to somehow minimize their greatness. The reality is that in boxing, just like every sport, the physical development of the human body and the scientific understanding of how to maximize it's potential has led today's athletes to be bigger, stonger and faster than those that came before them.
Face the facts, Jesse Owens couldn't even make it to the Finals of the 100m dash at the Olympics if he ran today... much less beat Usain Bolt.
Ben Hogan couldn't hand with today's best golfers on a monster 7,500 yard course.
Mark Spitz couldn't hold Michael Phelps jockstrap if they both raced as their "prime" selves.
George Mikan couldn't hang out in the low post with a prime Shaquille O'neal no matter what your grandpa tells you.
Boxing is a little different in that heart and determination become almost as important as your physical tools but at the same time, don't fool yourself into believing that the Klitschko brothers wouldn't be able to impose their physical advantages on the Heavyweight's of yesteryear.
Foreman is a good example. He was a physical monster in his prime, walking through every opponent and he was only about 6'3 and 220lbs. The Klitschko's far exceed his size and strength and certainly his skills. They simply lack that raw aggression (well Wlad anyway) that people expect from a Heavyweight Champ.
I don't think it's important to haggle about who they could or could not beat, it's only important that people have the good sense to realize that they are truly unique fighters and in many ways groundbreaking in that they are the very first men of their size to fight in a graceful and highly skilled manner.Comment

Out of all those fighters, I'd say Tyson has the worst type of style for Wlad to deal with. Tyson's stamina, speed, power, agility, would probably cause problems to Wlad. I don't consider Tyson the best fighter on that list, I just believe styles play a role in fights. But at the same time people can bring up Tyson was outboxed and stopped by fighters with longer reach then him, but he also did stop fighters with longer reach than him.Comment

Are you talking about Ali vs Tyson? Because I'm pretty sure Wlad could deal with Ali's jab, I think Wlads jab would hit Ali before Ali's jab hit him. Wlad's speed is very underrated. The rope-a-dope will not work against Wlad.Comment

vitali has a great chin but foreman had extraordinary power.
at least a tko.
he'll have problems with vitali's jab but vitali does like to mix it up as well giving foreman his opportunities.Comment

yea im talking about ali-tyson. but wlad wouldnt match ali's speed. his footwork, dont see how wlad could beat ali. it would be competitive no doubt but ali would knock him out late rounds. yea wlad looks good against the scrubs now a days but back in the glory days where the hw division was stacked? wlad wouldnt lastComment

foreman could KO vitali. the hardest puncher arguable in the hw history? i say hes #2 tho. Joe Louis had to been the hardest. He said he could knock a guy out with a 6 inch jabComment

he had very crisp punches and accurate.
if you judge them by their eras , yeah.
but overall , athletes are stronger and bigger than they were in the past.
not much difference between the 70's and now but big difference between the 40's and now.Comment

joe louis wasn't the hardest puncher in heavyweight history.
he had very crisp punches and accurate.
if you judge them by their eras , yeah.

not much difference between the 70's and now but big difference between the 40's and now.
what next? mike tyson had a feather fisted punch too?
the thing with louis he could knock a guy out 1 punch easy. tyson most of the time had to put his punches in combos and do it like thatComment
