Pacquaio and Mayweather were created by ODLH

Oscar de la hoya is the real numero uno cash cow in boxing history..

hes the reason why pacquiao and mayweather are earning what they are earning today, they had to fight de la hoya to get recognised. He was the stepping stone to their money success.. look at both fighters history

they werent earning nothing compared to what they got when they fought de la hoya

props to oscar, top fighter, top career.. HOF AND ATG

Not sure if you can say he created them since I think they were both destined to be stars, De La Hoya fought a lot of other fighters who didn't become huge stars after....but he sure gave them that little push into the mainstream

      agreed.

I think the HBO 24/7s also played a big part, which a lot of people watched because of DLH. That's probably why mosley didn't become so big after DLH-Mosley 1, there wasnt a 24/7 back then

I agree 100%. Oscar didn't win all his big fights, but he fought nearly every top fighter of his time. He always wanted to fight the best. I wish Floyd and Manny had the same attitude. They need to give some of these young lions the same opportuniy that Oscar gave them.

IMO, Mayweather and then Pacquiao are just extensions of the draw that De La Hoya was. Neither is anywhere near the level of fame they are now if they don't step in a ring with Oscar, because all those fans that tuned in just for Oscar wouldn't have ever cared about Floyd or Manny.

They may have been big without him, but you're kidding yourself if you think they approach anything close to the fame they have.

as far as money and recognition from the mainstream fans goes, yes. real fans knew about pacquiao and mayweather long before they fought DLH though.

same thing goes for hopkins and mosley.
