Roach vs Steward and Cus vs Futch

I can keep things civil myself.

Both these guys are the top trainers in the USA in my opinion.

Freddie Roach is number one money wise and set-up wise. He has boxed as a pro which gives him more technical insight and also psychological insight for the boxer. He will prepare a pro for the fight.

Manny Steward is the best in terms of being a real working man. The man I admire more of the pair. Streets of Detroit all the way up to the top and he's earned every cent and stuck to his job.

If these are the best now all time has to go to Eddie Futch over Cus D'Amato.

    Who r u pickin?

Over Tyson and Patterson who's Cus raised?

Futch pretty much made Roach and Steward while training Frazier Norton and Holmes.

I rate Roach higher than Steward, Manny gets alot of credit for Wlad but Wlad dont do what Many tells him, Steward will often be in the corner shouting at Wlad to take a guy out yet he will sit back and jab for 5 - 6 more rounds

I rate Steward over Roach because Roach is today what Steward was in the late 70's, 80's and part of the 90's.

As for Futch and D'Amato, it's pickem's for me.

              Trainer and Manager

Futch was a genius trainer who mentored under the great Jack Blackburn, Joe Louis' trainer, who also trained one fo the all time great light heavyweights in John Henry Lewis.

In fact, Eddie and Joe were on the same amateur team in Detroit and Louis used to spar with Eddie.

Yank Durham manager Joe at that time, and Joe was basically self-manager after Yank's passing, but Eddie did assist a bit.

The only issue I have with Futch was him stopping Ali-Frazier 3, as Ali was in worse condition than Joe was, and I do not think ali could have finished the 15th as he was wiped out.

Cus was a manager, not a trainer. Oh, he trained amateurs a bit in the 50's, including Floyd and Jose Torres, but otherwise, Dan Florio and Buster Thompson handled the training duties then, and Kevin Rooney, Teddy Atlas, and a couple of others worked with Tyson later in Cus' Catskills Gym that Jimmy Jacobs bought for him.

For me Ray Arcel is the best trainer ever by a large margin and then Futch.

Cus honestly hasn't trained enough champions to be rated among them imo.

I'd pick Steward over Roach but wouldn't argue with Roach being over Steward.

Fantastic pic of Arcel, he is tough to argue against.
