    My thoughts on Adamek-Grant fight

just finished watching the fight. very entertaining esp for a heavyweight fight.

Adamek is really bringing excitement back to the heavyweight division. The crowd was great and there was electricity in the air with all the Polish flags being waved.

Despite a lot of posters here saying Adamek has zero chance against the K bros, i think he has a very good chance of outboxing one or both of them.

He has a lot of heart and will give K bros a good fight.

What fight was Bob Sheridan watching? I gave Grant 2 rounds, 8 and 12. Round 6 is the only other round he could have won, but he was waaaaaay behind in that round when he stunned Adamek. Then Sheridan starts screaming in round 12 like it's a great war. Geez, I was led to believe this fight was exciting, but Adamek won pretty easily.

There would be some great fights at cruiserweight if the likes of Chambers and Ademek moved down there. What some people are refusing to accept is the simple fact some of these 'heavyweights' are not genetically big and powerful enough to compete with the likes of the klitschkos. Speed and timing go a long way, and will beat most heavyweights as the division is not very good right now. But against someone like Wladimir - a big man who is very fast for his size and has lots of other tools to go with it - I honestly think you need to pack a serious punch and be a genuine heavyweight.

Yeah Adamek will not just stand there like most Klitcho opponents he will actually bring a fight even if his chances are slim.

Yeah, Haye is only really a cruiser as well. The only thing that saves him is his power. That combination of speed at power make him a very dangerous heavyweight. Ruiz was at the end of his career, but nobody had done that to him before except Tua many years ago. Guys like Ademek [and Ibragimov previously] just don't have the power to make up for their size. Sure, they can beat most heavyweights, but we ultimately want to see a genuine heavyweight who we truly believe has the tools to match the Klitschkos. That could be a 6'5'' Lennox Lewis type, or a 5'10'' prime Tyson type - but it's not going to be any of these guys right now. We can only hope that someone comes along before Wladimir retires and at least gives us one good fight to watch for the next few years, like V. Klitschko did before Lewis retired.

Adamek fights too tentatively and too much in spots. He's explosive at times but not enough in my opinion. Hopefully he can apply more pressure to Whitaker and get the much needed KO.

I agree with you about Sheridan's scoring - it was ridiculously biased.

Adamek is not physically talented enough at heavyweight to beat the Klitschkos. He may be game, but he will be helpless.
