My thoughts on Adamek vs Grant.......
Grant fought the wrong fight for most of the night, albeit he would still not of been mentally tough enough to seize his opportunity, anyway, back on subject, Grant was trying to dominate centre ring and let Adamek come to him so he could counter his rushes attacks, only Grant is so shop worn, that his reflexes were not good enough to consistently counter Adamek on the way in, although he did manage it once, with a right hand that hurt Adamek, also, Grant, whilst having a 10 inch reach advantage did not use his jab properly, he pushed his jab a lot of the time, which was one of the reasons Adamek was able to jab with him, or slip inside a lot of the time, what Grant should of been doing, was what he was doing in round 9, which was negating his aged reflexes by getting off first and pressuring Adamek near the ropes, which is very important against someone like Adamek, you see Adamek cant handle this kinda a pressure cause he does not have the best footwork, the reason Adamek's footwork is so poor, is because he takes 2/3 baby steps to move to the side, which is a technical flaw, instead of taking one big step with the lead foot then pivoting and letting the backfoot follow, this is why he has trouble when lots of pressure is put on him, particularly when he is near the ropes, see if you are in centre ring and you attack Adamek, he has space behind him to move back, and even with his sloppy footwork, he can still do enough to avoid contact, however when he is near the ropes he has no where to go and often gets himself in bad positions/ off balance because of his footwork, as i said, the reason is because he takes so many small steps, he does not eat up the ground quick enough to get out the way, plus, when your pressing him near the ropes and you have a reach advantage it makes it even easier, provided your not a shop worn fighter like Grant who is too tentative, now Wlad has a reach advantage over him, but Wlad prolly wont try to get off first imo, he is more of a stalker/counter puncher, but here is the thing, he uses the jab well, always presses his opponents near the ropes, and his reflexes are good enough that he can drop the right hand on when your rush in at him, remember how he dropped that right on Tony Thompson?
If you watch Adamek's fights with Arreola, Grant, Estrada even Briggs toward the end of one of their fights, think it was the second, you will see a pattern emerging of how he looks vulnerable when you press him near ropes, it usually happens late in fights with cause he is fresh enough to use his legs for so long.
I really like Adamek, big fan of his courage, toughness, cant see him beating Wlad at all to be honest. Wlad will do all the things Grant did not.
