This has actually crossed my mind too. Listen to what Dawson had to say. Like everybody else pointed out, he said he wasn't worried about the loss because of his rematch clause. I don't know if I'd jump to the conclusion that he completely threw the fight on purpose. But knowing he had that rematch clause might have caused him to not try hard enough and he knew if there was a rematch he would get another payday.

Why would he lose on purpose?

Being undefeated can only help your marketability in most cases

        WTF?

Hatton did NOT throw that fight my friend and he is not on a comeback moneyspinner plan either.

He's smarter than that. You watch the stables he nurtures in Manchester.

Thats gonna be his REAL comeback. You'll see.

He didn't have to lose voluntarily... he got his ass kicked by the WBC WC Jean Pascal, Dawson will lose again in the rematch, fighting grandpa's didn't help his career...

I don't see how losing helps anything. If anything the loss may be attributed to all the negative things going on in his life/finances in the background. Maybe he was distracted in his training for a very game opponent. And that could be the cause. But the one thing the loss may do is help him realize he has to clear up all those other distractions if he wants to be successful going forward.

              Yeah..........that is what happened

He is going to dominate the amateurish Pascal in a rematch because that is the best Pascal can fight and everyone knows Dawson is much much better than he showed last week.

I personally thought Dawson tried at about 50% for a majority of the fight. We saw what he could do when he chose to do something, he almost dropped Pascal. Something was WAY,WAY off with him in that fight.

That's not true and i have never said that Dawson was a bad fighter, my prediction for the first fight was : Close fight, can't see who is going to win...
Now, i thought it would be a close fight because: Dawson had only watch Pascal once on video against Froch ! That's just weak preparation for a fight, first, Pascal was at 168 in that fight, it was also a learning experience for him and he learned a lot by doing better than he thought ! After that fight, he had 2 great wars against Diaconu "who is underrated btw" with one of them with a separated shoulder. They put his shoulder back in place 3 times during that fight. Pascal went throught surgery and fought Dawson without any tuneup fight in between. Dawson will respect Pascal in the rematch so that will help him but he still has a weak team with him. Pascal will be more confident and knows how to hurt him and at the same time he took Dawson's best uppercut without being KO'd. That's why i see Pascal winning the rematch...
