I don't think hatton could have won, but Cortez was just awful that night. I mean Ricky for the most part was not allowed inside, and when Cortez finally let him, Ricky's face was greeted with elbows and forearms, yet Ricky was the one verbally lambasted left and right by Cortez.

Simply put Cortez let Floyd have his own way that night. I think Ricky could have made it the distance, but he was just tired from having to battle two men in there. Floyd got away with everything, and Ricky got away with nothing.

These videos highlight just how awful Cortez was. No one is saying Hatton would've won, it would've taken a minor miracle. But judging Cortez's performance on its own merit....it was disgraceful.

cortez had absolutely zero effect on the outcome of that fight. ray hatton could have been the referee of that fight & ricky would still lose handily.
