  • The guy who wrote this article is an idiot. Was Floyd Mayweather ever asked about the Margarito situation?? I'm pretty sure he's have an opinion one way or another if he was asked about it.

    • Why would this guy even give Margarito that much respect?
Antonio Margarito has always been overhyped and overrated.
Margarito showed his worth to the world so for people to think
Floyd ducked this guy is still to me ridiculous.

      • Watch people try to ignore these facts and make up their own.

Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million.

Arum said Mayweather also asked for $20 million to fight De La Hoya, a fight Arum said he wasn't interested in participating in.

"That's not in the cards," Arum said. "He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? It's not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. We'll talk about things down the road."

        It's not about being a
Floyd fan or of any other fighter
        BUT about acknowledging the facts
        and not disregarding them. Basically
Arum was trying to play Floyd like he
has done to so many other fighters that
        are under his promotional company
        .

        • Sounds like this guy is trying to get attention to his article
by using Floyd's name and the Margarito situation.

Mike Cassell: Well, let’s talk about the other guys, Like Antonio Margarito.

Larry Merchant: Who Mayweather didn’t want any part of, by the way.

Mike Cassell: Well that’s why I don’t think there should be a question of Mayweather coming back. I think he has to come back. There is such a large part of the welterweight division that he seems to have just ignored. Guys like Paul Williams, Antonio Margarito , and...

Larry Merchant: And Shane Mosley. But that’s how boxing fans and boxing writers see it. Fighters today are not just fighters. They are entrepreneurs. They make decisions based on money. Mayweather didn’t want any part of Margarito because he saw him as a bigger version of Castillo, who he had trouble with at lightweight. A very strong and very determined willful type of fighter http://www.doghouseboxing.com/DHB/Cassell012409.htm

            • Good article. It's always fun to see *****s squirm and offer their BS excuses. Don't get me wrong, Mayweather is technically the greatest fighter of his generation but the guy has NO balls and NO heart. No wonder he started playing it safe after Castillo

Castillo in his prime was a much better boxer/fighter than
Antonio Margarito. ALSO! There was a rematch between
Floyd and Castillo and in that rematch Castillo didn't get
nowhere near like he did the first time BECAUSE Floyd wasn't
injured like in the first fight. Merchant hates Floyd and
Shane Mosley was considering Floyd a high risk low reward
fight when Floyd was chasing him and Oscar up the divisions.
Look, just because you don't like Floyd doesn't mean you have
to only look at one aspect of the game. Margarito had to cheat
to beat guys smaller than him? Margarito ain't in the same league
of any good to great boxers/fighters..... Just face it. Don't ignore
                the quote:

He gave Castillo a rematch soon after and he beat him more
convincingly the 2nd time. Shows he had the balls to man
up and let people know that the first fight wasn't a fluke.
Not that it means anything to bias, non boxing fans but to
my knowledge I seem to remember Manny Pacquiao not able
to beat Juan Manuel Marquez decisively in two fights some
years apart, after a combined 4 KD's. Pacquiao hasn't fought
any skilled boxers since JMM. If your going to give **** to one
fighter, then be fair enough to give it to others.
