I still don't understand what they are doing with Rigondeaux. He's been a pro well over a year now and he's still only had five very short, easy fights. If he's to get a title before he gets old, they seriously need to get his ass in gear and him fighting more and progressing much, much, much quicker. They should have had him fighting once a month for all this time instead of once every two months, then a couple of three month breaks and then a six month break.
That's what a long time champs schedule is like. Not a pro just starting out. They'll **** up his potential and career if they keep moving him along like this. Sad.
He'll have a six month break where he won't have been doing much but getting fat and lazy and not training and then he'll get put in with some guy who's been fighting every month and probably sees it as the opportunity of a lifetime and will upset him. It happens all the time. I don't know if it's just me but already he doesn't look as fit and in shape as usual. He's usually much more ripped than that.
Anyway, maybe they see Beranza as a guy who can give him the full fight and more rounds than usual. He's very tough, and has beaten/upset some good prospects when he wasn't meant to. It won't be this guy who upsets Rigondeaux but maybe we'll get to see him go the full distance over 8.Comment
