I do not think we can compare two very different eras boxers. Gavilan was an excellent boxer in his time, but in this generation fighters are athletes, not nothing but boxers, and Pacquiao has incredible physical conditions, and to maximize these conditions, and also has a very good skills, but no excellent skills. For these reasons I believe you can not ask who would win, fight like a couple of more good to be Gavilan. For this I think Pacquiao knock him out fast.
