Why did Tyson duck durable fighters?

I think this hurt Mike Tyson leading up to his fight with Holyfield. on his comeback in 1995 up until his fight with Holyfield he barely fought 8 rounds against the likes of mcneeley, bruno, seldon, and mathis jr.

i think Holyfield would have always beaten him, but i think Tyson always avoided the dangerous durable guys like Mercer, McCall, schultz etc.

Tyson fought whoever was put in front of him.

I don't think he was ducking anybody. King's work more than anything.

Tyson was going to fight Mercer before Lewis. Of course Mercer was old by then.

mercer may have been around 35 but he was in his prime at that stage, and as we know gave holyfield and lewis very tough fights.
