I think its convenient to say that its the first time. If you believe he didn't notice what was going into his gloves against Mosley then its safe to say that not even Margarito knows how long he has been cheating. I think he was well aware.

Given the fact that he looked unstoppable for most his career, then looks shook and gets KO'd for the first time in his career after getting caught.....he looks pretty su****ious. His next fightback, he looks less than par and you could blame the long layoff but I personally think he has cheated ever since he lost his first couple fights way back in the beginning of his career.

Obviously its impossible to say with any certainty however on the balance of probabilities you would have to say that he has most likley used those pads before.
