let's look at the facts:
1. win or lose, pac's getting $40 million dollars from a mayweather fight.
2. win or lose the first fight, pac's getting another $40 million or so from a rematch.
3. win or lose, he's still congressman in the philippines, which is what he wanted since he was a little kid.
4. win or lose, he's still gonna be loved back home. his popularity shot up when he lost to morales because he put up a heroic, bloody, exciting fight. from everything i hear, filipinos like the underdog. all pac needs to do is lose in style, and he'll be more popular than ever.
5. he's already got 3 losses. he's not protecting some mythical zero on his resume.
so what does all this mean? it means that pac probably doesn't care that much about losing, per se. hell, he almost lost to marquez and looked ready to accept it, even looked a little surprised when he got the win. so even if pac were on PEDs, he'd have every incentive to take the damn tests, stop taking drugs for this fight, and fight floyd without them, because even if he loses, he WINS.
so why isn't he taking the tests?
PRIDE.
i think everyone knows what floyd's doing. he's trying to weaken and embarrass his opponent. floyd could give a **** if the opponent's in his prime or in his ideal weight class. his objective is to WIN, and he does it partly by weakening his opponent in little ways. so he made hatton and marquez move up in weight, fought mosley when he was old, took on well-known second-tier champs like baldomir while more dangerous guys like cotto used themselves up fighting other dangerous guys like margarito. it's sneaky but smart and it helps win fights and keep the magical zero. i think people need to give floyd more credit for choosing his battles wisely and not being so ****** as to fight every hungry young talent the fans demand him to fight.
but his weakening tactics aren't working on pac, cause pac's refusing to accept it. pac's got enough money to buy his own damn philippine island, or at least an election, while floyd's got tax problems. pac thinks he doesn't need to bow down for floyd. pac thinks floyd eventually gonna need the fight more than he does. pac thinks he has the upper hand.
the bottom line is that this fight is not being delayed because of drugs. the drugs are just a psychological ploy. and not because floyd's scared either. WTF? he fought a solid de la hoya at junior middle for the belt and creamed a prime corrales. guy has always had balls. besides, the whole point of his comeback is to fight pac. there's no other conceivable reason for floyd fighting marquez. the fight is delayed because BOTH GUYS ARE PLAYING A PSYCHOLOGICAL CHESS MATC, and right now it's at a stalemate. the stalemate will end either one of two ways:
a) pac has difficulty with margarito, showing that all those accumulated battles and the additional weight are finally taking their toll. this could be the weakness floyd is looking for
b) floyd runs out of money and is forced to take the fight
dig through the surface, and you'll see i'm right.
