I was a fan of Vargas but after Tito and subsequently De La Hoya, he was DONE.

Cotto is coming off Margarito and Pac-man and still looking decent. where Vargas didnt look good at all in wins over Raymond Joval or even Castillejo.
and any elite fighter who loses to Ricardo Mayorga (mayorga post trinidad and oscar mind you)is clearly more used up then a guy who is still a top contender to most of the top guys at WW and JMW

I'm going to say neither because neither guy was shot. Shot is when you cant function anymore in the ring. Ur brain wants to do something, but your body cant do it, or does it way to late. For instance Joel Cassamayor in his last fight was shot. Gatti against Gomez was pretty shot and etc.

The fact that Vargas was able to compete at a high level with a prime Mosely, and prime Oscar and beat a good fighter in Castillejo shows he wasnt really shot. And Cotto beat two good fighters in Clottey and Foreman. If your shot you lose to those guys.
