Why didn't they give Judah a gift decision over Carlos Baldomir?

Usually in upset situations like that where a big fight can be ruined, they give a fighter a gift decision. Why didn't they do this to Zab in the Baldomir fight? He was the undisputed WW champion. I'm not saying I would support such a decision, but I'm just wondering why because in most decisions they favor the champ even if they get beaten (De La Hoya-Sturm) so a big fight doesn't get ruined, which was the Mayweather fight. And the Baldomir fight was pretty close too.

As far as I can remember, it wasn't really a close fight at all. A gift decision to Zab might've hurt him more than simply taking the L. He went on to fight Mayweather next anyway (and lost).

If I remember correctly, he took the first 5 rounds and then blew the rest because he didn't train at all. Its been a while so I could be wrong.

The 1st few rounds were a little close, but you could see Baldomir was landing a lot more than people expected. It gradually got worse as the fight progressed.

Ironically, he had a better outing in the 1st 4 rounds against Floyd than I remember against Baldomir.

He clearly lost the fight while showboating when he was getting beat up.

There might've been a riot if Judah got the decision.
